The chapter of the FUTO Student Petroleum Engineering Company (SPE) made tremendous progress at the 2019 Technical Symposium and Student Show (STSE) held at Obafemi Awolowo University ( OUA) at Ile-Ife. Our students won the prestigious Petro Quiz XVIII competition organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The FUTO team defeated the OUA team, the ABUAD team, the UNILAG team and the UNIUYO team to take first place. This achievement now qualifies the SPE FUTO chapter to represent Sub-Saharan Africa in Canada at the PetroBowl competition scheduled for September 2019.
The award was presented to the Petroleum Engineering Department, Dean SEET, and the FUTO Board of Directors. Presentation of the trophy to Dean SEET, Acting General Manager of Petroleum Engineering, Engr. Dr N.C. Izu said Dean SEET thought the competition was for all chapters of PES students in Nigeria and that the FUTO Petroleum Engineering Department had reached the summit with hard work. Presentation of the trophy to VC, Dean SEET, Engr. Teacher. G.I. Nwandikom also pointed out that the students' excellent performance was in line with the administration's current mantra of "Stimulating the culture of excellence".
Receive the trophy, the VC, the prof. Eze congratulated the students and the petroleum engineering department.
The students who participated in the contest are Ihedilionye Gerald, Obasi Emmanuel C., Obikaonu Agnes C., Ofoegbu Chukwuebuka D. and Okeifufe Nnamdi F.
